Every shirt is checked by us before it is listed or goes on the rail, and we guarantee it is genuine: an original made for or by the club, country or kit manufacturer named in the listing, not a later reproduction sold as the original. If a shirt you bought from us turns out not to be genuine, send it back whenever you find out and we refund the full price you paid and your return postage. The guarantee is set out in our terms of sale.

Shirts are graded on a six-point scale — New, Deadstock, Excellent, Very Good, Good and Loved — and the page shows the grade with its sentence. New is brand new with its original tags. Deadstock has never been worn and still has its original tags, as it was sold in store when it was released. Excellent and Very Good have no obvious faults in appearance and may have been worn just a few times. Good has minor stains or fabric tearing which may be noticeable. Loved is used, with noticeable stains or fabric tearing. Read that sentence with the photographs, which are always of the shirt you will get.

The page tells you, in words, rather than leaving a blank. Where a shirt has not been graded yet the page says so and points you at the photographs, which are always of that shirt and not a stock image. Where the measurements are not on the page yet it says they are being added. We are working through the stock shirt by shirt, and a page updates the moment its shirt is measured.

Buy by the measurements, not the label. Sizing has changed since the 1990s, and a 1990s XL is often closer to a modern L. Where a shirt has been measured, the page gives it flat, in inches and centimetres: pit to pit across the chest, and length from the back of the collar to the hem. Double the pit-to-pit figure for the full chest, and compare it with a shirt you already own and like the fit of.

UK delivery is free on orders over £60. Under £60 it is worked out at checkout from the courier's live price for your address and your parcel, and you see the exact charge and the full total before you pay. We dispatch within two working days, Monday to Friday, and UK delivery usually takes a further two to five working days. We email a tracking number when the parcel leaves us. Yes, to Europe and the rest of the world, priced at checkout the same way. International orders are sent with local sales taxes and import duties already included in what you pay us, so there is nothing to pay when the parcel arrives. Orders going outside the UK are taken at checkout by our partner Global-e, which also handles returns on those orders; email us first and we will point you to the right place.

Yes. You have 30 days from delivery to change your mind, sale items included. Email hello@forever-vintage.co.uk and we send you a prepaid label, so the return postage is on us, then post it within 14 days of telling us. We refund the full price and the standard delivery you paid, to the way you paid, within 14 days of it reaching us. Every shirt is one of one, so we cannot swap one for another: return it and order the one you want. The refund policy has the detail.

Vintage means worn, and the fading, marks and cracked prints we have described and photographed are part of the shirt rather than faults. If a flaw we did not mention turns up, the measurements are wrong, or the wrong item arrives, tell us within 30 days of delivery and you get a full refund under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, with the return postage paid by us. After 30 days you are entitled to a repair or a replacement where we have one, and a refund if that fails.

Yes, in either of our two shops in the city centre. Hanover Street, at 3–5 Hanover Street, EH2 2DL, is the larger of the two and open every day from 9am to 6pm. Nicolson Street, at 72 Nicolson Street, EH8 9DT, is open every day from 11am to 6pm. Both are about a fifteen-minute walk from Waverley station. There is more on both shops on our Edinburgh page.

There is no legal right to return something bought in person because you have changed your mind, but we give you one. Bring it back within 14 days with your receipt, in the condition you bought it, and we refund you in full to the way you paid. If something is faulty or not as described, your rights apply in full in the shops exactly as they do online.

They carry the same guarantee, and on a signed shirt it covers the signature as well as the shirt: if the signature turns out not to be genuine, you get the full price back. Frames are large and fragile, so they travel on their own dedicated next-day service at a flat £25 per order, which sits outside the free-delivery offer. If you need to return one we arrange the collection and it costs you nothing.
